Azza Baatout and Kristin Barth joining the EAO group

We are welcoming Visiting Graduate Researchers Azza and Kristin to the EAO group

Azza Baatout holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from TU Darmstadt and is currently completing her M.Sc. in Data Engineering & Analytics at the Technical University of Munich as a visiting student researcher at Stanford. In the Department of Energy Science and Engineering, she is developing short-term probabilistic photovoltaic (PV) power forecasts using computer vision models and statistical techniques applied to all-sky images, satellite imagery, and time-series PV data. Azza combines a background in software engineering with a strong focus on computer vision applications in interdisciplinary fields.

Kristin Barth is a Visiting Student Researcher in Energy Science & Engineering at Stanford University in Adam Brandt’s Environmental Assessment & Optimization Group. Her research focuses on understanding the role of industrial process switching in achieving net-zero emissions, specifically by modeling hydrogen as an industrial feedstock in BRIDGES, a coupled gas-electric capacity expansion model. She holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and is completing a research internship at Stanford as part of her M.Sc. at TUM. Previously, she worked on sustainable aviation fuels at TUM’s Chair of Energy Systems and gained industry experience at a Munich-based direct air capture startup, in hydrogen safety at TÜV, and in natural gas at Linde Engineering. Kristin is a recipient of the DAAD ERA Green Hydrogen Fellowship and a Rotary Club Munich scholarship.
