Jacob Englander presents at SETAC North America annual meeting

On November 15th, Jacob Englander presented his work on oil sands GHG emissions at the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry 33rd annual North American meeting in Long Beach CA.  This was the first presentation of historical GHG emissions estimates for the entire oil sands industry.

Charles Kang presents poster at GHGT-11 in Kyoto

Charles Kang presented his poster entitled "Optimal heat integration in a coal-natural gas energy park with CO2 capture" at the 11th Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies (GHGT) conference in Kyoto Japan.  This poster extends his previous work on optimal CO2 capture to optimize the detailed design, sizing, and operation of heat recovery equipment to supply solvent regeneration thermal energy requirements.

Jacob Englander presents research at LCA XII conference

Jacob Englander presented his research on the Albertan oil sands at the LCA XII conference in Tacoma, Washington on September 27, 2012. He performed a historical life cycle analysis to calculate carbon intensity of mining and upgrading bitumen from oil sands located in Alberta, Canada. 

Hassan El-Houjeiri presents OPGEE model at LCA XII conference

Hassan El-Houjeiri, postdoc in the Energy Resources Engineering department, presented his Oil Production Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimator (OPGEE) model, an engineering-based life cycle analysis model which calculates greenhouse gas emissions from conventional oil production, at the LCA XII conference in Tacoma, Washington on September 27, 2012.

Charles Kang awarded Stanford Interdisciplinary Graduate Fellowship

Energy Resources Engineering Ph.D. student Charles Kang has been awarded the 2012 Stanford Interdisciplinary Graduate Fellowship. This award will fund Charles to work for three years on the integration of carbon capture and storage technologies with renewable energy systems. Congratulations Charles!
