Yannik Schüler

Ph.D. Student in Energy Science and Engineering, admitted Spring 2026

Yannik Schüler is pursuing a Ph.D. in Energy Science & Engineering at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, co-supervised by Professors Adam Brandt and Sally Benson. He holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration from RWTH Aachen University, Germany, and a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

His research focuses on optimization of industrial decarbonization processes. Prior to his doctoral studies, Yannik conducted risk and safety assessments of CO₂ pipeline transport infrastructure for carbon capture and storage (CCS) applications, and analyzed how decarbonization policies in the US and Canada shape low-carbon ammonia production strategies. He also gained industry experience at Ammobia in San Francisco, where he developed optimization models for clean ammonia production.
